WITH cooler weather approaching, people looking to stock up on firewood are reminded they must have a current permit to collect from state forests.
Forestry Corporation western region environment and resources manager Ross Irvine said corporation staff undertook patrols of forest sites and used video surveillance to monitor activity in state forests.
"People found collecting firewood without a permit, or breaching any of their permit's conditions, will be fined and may be prosecuted," Mr Irvine said.
Get firewood permits online or by calling into corporation offices at Baradine, Narrabri or Inverell.
