"I'm really, really looking forward to it," he said.
"I've heard a lot about it so now I'm looking forward to experiencing it myself. I've heard about the music scene, sight seeing and culture because my bass player is from Australia. When we found out we were coming over, he probably cried a little."
He won't be playing any other shows, with the Pokolbin festival at Hope Estate the main reason for his trip, but he said he hoped to get a few hours of sightseeing in.
"A couple of people who are playing, they've been with us before, like Rascal Flatts I've been out with twice so it will be fun to catch up with those guys," Chris said.
"We'll be partying in Australia. I travel a lot and I've been lucky where I've got to go like places in Europe and Canada, Germany and Iraq so getting to Australia is going to be really cool."
Chris said the trip to Australia to play for new fans was a great opportunity for him and hoped some of his songs would be known by those at CMC Rocks.
"I think it'll be awesome," he said.
"When my bass player was in Australia last, he said his family had heard at least a couple of my songs."
The US country artist said he felt privileged to be able to get up on stage and entertain with his music.
"There are very few people who get to do what I get to do," he said.
"Not only do I get to do that, it's above and beyond anything I could have expected. I'm making my fourth record for RCA right now and getting to go places and play like Australia and London- it's truly an amazing thing."
After the festival, Chris returns home and will announce a big summer tour and work on a new album.
"It might be time to test a couple of the songs of the new album out in Australia," he said.
Chris plays CMC Rocks the Hunter at 4.30pm on Saturday.
