The protester at the centre of the Whitehaven Coal share hoax claims to have stopped output from the company’s Tarrawonga mine.
Front Line Action on Coal spokesman Jonathan Moylan said a protester in a tree platform had stopped coal output and worker access from Tarrawonga.
Mr Moylan is facing legal action from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission over his hoax letter saying ANZ Bank had withdrawn funding from Whitehaven over Maules Creek.
He said his group was backing a ‘‘Call to Country’’ campaign launched by the Lock the Gate alliance.
The Call to Country campaign is calling for a federal moratorium on new coal and coal-seam gas projects and a royal commission into state government coalmine approval processes.
The Newcastle Herald is seeking comment from Whitehaven.
