POLICE destroyed more than 300 cannabis plants found in Carrai National Park near Armidale after nearly three weeks of investigations.
The crop was first discovered on February 20 when specialist police went to a property next to the national park and found the cannabis plantation.
They removed some of the plants then and a plain clothes officer was assaulted by a man wearing a balaclava and sunglasses.
The offender managed to escape, but in the struggle the balaclava and sunglasses came off. Police are waiting on DNA results from the items.
Police were unable to destroy the rest of the crop due to adverse weather, so returned on saturday, seizing or destroying the rest of the plantation, believed to have a potential street value of $600,000.
