Name released after Tenterfield death

Police have released the name of a man who's body was found in bushland near Tenterfield last month.

The man has been identified as Victor Andrew O'Neon of Mt Gravatt in Queensland.

Mr O'Neon's body was found by a park ranger at a remote camp site at Basket Swamp National park on Friday February 1.

The park is located about 25km north east of Tenterfield.

Police are currently preparing a brief for the information of the Coroner.

Detectives from New England Local Area Command are continuing their investigations into the incident under Strike Force Treacy.

They believe the man had been camping in the Basket Swamp area for several weeks prior to his death.

Police have forensically examined the area where the man’s body was found, and conducted a search of the campsite and surrounding bushland.

Investigators are renewing their appeal for anyone who was recently camping in the area or who may have information about the matter.
