TWO women have been seriously injured in separate car accidents yesterday near Guyra and Uralla.
Ambulance, firefighters and the Volunteer Rescue Association battled to free the woman for nearly two hours after her car hit a tree on the Ebor Rd.
New England police said initial investigations appear the vehicle's tyres left the road, causing the driver to over-correct and spin across the road.
Paramedics took the woman by road to Armidale Hospital before she was transferred by air to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital.
Meanwhile a 71-year-old woman suffered shoulder, hip and spinal injuries in a two-car accident near Uralla yesterday.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Thunderbolts Way and Bundarra Rd near Uralla just before 4.30pm on Wednesday after reports an elderly woman was trapped in one of the vehicles.
Both roads were closed to allow the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to land and take the woman to Tamworth Base Hospital.
Three others were injured in the accident and taken by paramedics to Armidale Base Hospital.
Uralla Rural Fire Service attended along with officers from New England Local Area Command.
New England police are investigating both accidents and are asking anyone with any information to contact Armidale Police Station.
