Rain no problem as Christian schools hit the pool

THE rain didn’t deter swimmers competing in yesterday’s Christian School Sports Association (CSSA) North Coast zone carnival.

More than 200 students representing schools stretching from Gunnedah to Casino took to the water at Tamworth City Pool yesterday and didn’t mind the wet a bit.

“The children have been in the pool all day and have loved it,” Carinya Christian School sports coordinator Charles Bickersteth said.

Despite the weather there were some good times swum, and several swimmers who did well in multiple events.

The carnival was a selection meet for next week’s State carnival.

The first two in each event qualified to swim at that.

Both primary and secondary students were involved in yesterday’s carnival.

Carinya Tamworth hosted the carnival and had 48 swimmers competing.

They competed alongside swimmers from Carinya Gunnedah, Casino Christian School, Coffs Harbour Christian School, Nambucca Christian School, Pacific Valley Christian School, Richmond Christian School, St Andrews Christian School and Summerland Christian School.

The carnival had actually been rescheduled to yesterday.

It was to be held last week but was cancelled because schools like Coffs Harbour couldn’t get over to Tamworth.
