President Matt Arrua said the club is conducting a competition on Facebook to find a name for the panda who has been adorning the junior club’s badge for a couple of decades.
On Sunday, Panda was at North Tamworth Bowling Club, the new sponsor for the senior and junior North Companions clubs, helping with registrations for the junior teams.
Last year North Companions had some 25 junior teams in the Tamworth Football Association junior divisions and another six senior teams playing Northern Inland Premier League (2), senior local (2), over 35s and womens.
That’s around 30 teams all up, club committeeman Jason Cannon said.
He said the club has another round of registration days at North Companions’ Marius Street ground, Struddy’s Sports and North Tamworth Bowling Club on March 8, 9 and 10.
