Police officer assaulted in Walcha.
A POLICE officer at Walcha was assaulted as he was escorting an 18-year-old local man from a hotel. Police were called to the licensed premises on Friday night at 8.15pm when the man refused to leave.
He was being escorted from the premises when a brief struggle ensued which resulted in the officer being hit in the side of the face with the offender’s elbow causing bruising and some swelling to his eye. The 18-year-old was arrested, taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with failing to quit licensed premises and assaulting police.
