A CRITICAL incident investigation is under way following the death of a man in Muswellbrook on Monday night.
About 8.15pm Highway Patrol officers from the Hunter Valley became involved in a brief pursuit of a motorcycle on Queen St.
During the pursuit the male rider crashed into the front fence of a home on Queen St where he sustained fatal injuries.
A crime scene was established while officers from the Crash Investigation Unit conduct their inquiries.
A critical incident team from Port Stephens Local Area Command are now investigating all circumstances surrounding the incident.
No further details were available early yesterday but police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
