Drivers carried away by AELEC obstacles in Tamworth

CARRIAGE drivers left Tamworth yesterday satisfied with their new venue at the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre.

Organiser Anne Knee said competitors were very happy with the venue and the way the course went.

She said the drivers always enjoyed the marathon obstacles the most –  of which there were six –  and they all drove very well through them.

The horse driving trials involved dressage on Saturday morning, marathon on Saturday afternoon and cone driving yesterday morning.

Competitors came from Kootingal, Armidale and other northern areas of NSW.

“As to whether we go any further, we don’t know yet, but we have a weekend booked in November,” Mrs Knee said.

“We just have to go back to the club and make sure people are willing to put in the work, get competitors and get sponsorship.”

Mrs Knee said they would like to attract competitors from interstate for the event later in the year, and planning was now in place for that.
