The South Tamworth allrounder turned 50 on Sunday but he and his clubmates celebrated with a birthday party at the end of Saturday’s play against West Tamworth in their Tamworth first grade match.
A few drinks at No 1 Oval were followed by more at Cricket House.
The day didn’t start too well for Richard and his South teammates after they were dismissed for 178 but ended much better when they had West 8-59 at stumps.
It wasn’t a real good day for South opener Troy Osborne either.
He scored a fine duck, the same as his sister Erin did in their Women’s World Cup clash in India. However Troy then added to the howls from his teammates when he had to umpire for a while.
He gave a stumping and a run out while he was out there, prompting his teammates to call for his dismissal from square leg.
Happily his sister bounced back to take 3-9 in her 10 overs and lead Australia into the World Cup Final regardless of the final game against the West Indies.
Troy also led the way off the field celebrating Rollo’s 50th although he was outdone by Darren Hammond, Josh Crowe and Tim Swan.
The trio of Southies made a brief trek to the Longyard but returned just as quick to continue their innings at the clubhouse.
Rollo was chauffeured home before midnight before he turned into a pumpkin and celebrated his 50th in bed!
Ah he’s catching up and on. Life’s a peach and then we fly.
