ROSS and Nancy Lockwood of Tamworth have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Friends and family gathered for a special lunch at the Workshop Cafe at the Quality Hotel Powerhouse on Tuesday to mark the milestone.
Both born-and-bred Tamworthians, the couple married on February 5, 1953 and together ran R & NJ Lockwood Electrical Contractors for 48 years.
As well, they owned a number of farms across the district and have had a long-running connection to the land.
Nancy’s sister, Dorothy Studte, said she could recall the time Ross and Nancy spent at Victory Lodge, Duri.
“During their time on this property, Nancy went into rearing poddy calves, on one of the few times Tamworth has had snow,” Mrs Studte said.
“Ross arrived home to see the 13 calves dressed in the children’s jumpers.
“What a sight this was, but it saved the calves.”
The couple had three children, two of whom moved to Queensland. They are grandparents to nine and have 10 great-grandchildren.
