Afghani refugee an inspiring awardee

I WAS gobsmacked when I read Carolyn Faint’s letter regarding the Young Australian of the Year.

Twenty-five-year-old Afghani  refugee Akram Azimi went on to study a triple major in law, science and arts at the Uni of WA after spending considerable time in the Kimberley region of WA mentoring young indigenous and disabled people.

I hope some of our brilliant doctors are not in your sights.

The 2012 Young Australian of the Year was Corey Payne, but you probably don’t like rugby league.
