The awards were presented on Thursday at the North West Church in front of a good crowd.
Dianne Lindsay won the Best Female Vocal award while last year’s Most Promising Future Star winner Paul Cowderoy took out the Best Male Vocal award.
Brothers3 firmed their stranglehold on the Best Group award when they were announced as winners of the accolade for the third year running.
Best Song went to Home, a song written by Don Walker and recorded by McAlister Kemp.
Graham Rodger won Best Bush Ballad with his song Looking Back while rising star group Dozzi took out their first People’s Choice Award with Love Away The Bad Days winning Best Video Clip.
Most Promising Future Star was won by Christie Lamb, a Toyota Star Maker grand finalist (coincidentally, fellow Star Maker grand finalist Sarah Head was also up for the People’s Choice “new talent” gong).
Dale Duncan featured in two awards, first, Best Album for his Family Values, and also with Amos Morris for the new award for Best Vocal or Musical Event with their duet recording of You’re A Real Good Friend.
In the broadcasting categories, Sgt Ron of todayscountry94one on the NSW Central Coast was named Most Popular Country Music DJ, while Hot Country Radio Queensland was recognised as the Most Popular Radio Station.
A good crowd attended the awards night to witness the presentations and performances by a raft of finalists and hosts Connie Kis Andersen and Greg Champion.
This year’s awards were sponsored by Trans-Help Foundation and Iveco for the first time.
Organisers have also released, for the first time, a compilation album of finalists, titled People’s Choice which is selling as a fundraiser for Trans-Help, the organisation that supports Australian truckies and their families.
