Tamara private hospital rated number one by patients

TAMARA Private Hospital can lay claim to being the best private hospital in Australia.

A national survey of patient satisfaction, conducted by Medibank Private, revealed the hospital is considered the best in the country by patients.

The hospital is also rated the best private hospital in NSW and the best rural and regional private hospital.

The results came from 17,322 responses on 140 private hospitals in Australia, with the survey covering stages from pre-admission to discharge and follow-up.

Tamara was given a “member experience index score” of 86 out of 100 – well above the national average of 72.

The hospital’s chief executive officer, Annette Arthur, said staff were “overjoyed” with the honour, particularly having achieved such a result as a small rural hospital in a national field.

She told The Leader she believed it all came down to the “fantastic” staff at the hospital.

Ms Arthur said the staff had a special manner and great working relationships, which flowed through to the patients, making them feel safe and comfortable while at the hospital.

The award was “for each and every one of my staff”, she said.

The hospital has won regional awards before, but never such a national accolade.
