KASEY Chambers and Shane Nicholson filled Bicentennial Park to overflowing last night, with their free concert.
The golden couple of country music held the free concert to thank their fans.
Kasey said she wanted to hold the concert in Tamworth to get back to where it all started for her – busking with her family, The Dead Ringer Band outside the Central Hotel.
It was so popular that the concert, originally planned for Peel St near the Central Hotel, had to be moved to the park to fit in more people.
Fans showed their appreciation of the gesture by getting to the park as early as 10am to get the pick of the best vantage spots.
Kasey said the idea came about for the free concert during last year when she and husband Shane were discussing their return to Tamworth.
They wanted to do some busking, then the idea grew and grew to the huge concert event it became.
The gig included the Wreck and Ruin band from their current tour.
This was the only show the couple will have this festival, but they will assist the bushfire appeal at today’s Country Relief concert at TRECC.
