One of the biggest concerts of the Toyota Country Music Festival Tamworth 2013 is set to get even bigger.
Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson planned to “busk” in Peel St today at 8pm, but there’s been a last-minute move to Bicentennial Park to accommodate the large crowds.
Festival coordinator Kate Baker, from Tamworth Regional Council, said Festival Headquarters had received so many inquiries about the concert that it was starting to look like a bigger venue would be necessary.
“Council received so much interest in Kasey and Shane’s concert this week that it was felt that Peel St simply would not hold the volume of fans that were likely to show up,” she said.
The famous country music couple will now play their concert at Bicentennial Park, which allows them to entertain a much larger crowd.
“It’s our way of giving back and saying thank you for supporting us for so many years – it’s a gift,” Kasey said.
Shane said it made the festival more exciting for them because they were doing something different.
“We wanted to do something we haven’t done before so we’re going to try it out and see what happens,” he said.
“I think it’ll be great fun. We always have fun at Tamworth but this year we wanted to do something interesting.”
The concert will start at Bicentennial Park at 8pm and is set to be one of the week’s biggest shows.
