VEHICLES are bearing the brunt of crime in Tamworth for the last few days, with tyres stolen from parked vehicles and burnt out and abandoned vehicles reported to Tamworth police.
A car that had been left overnight on Scott Rd on Monday night was set on fire just after 1am yesterday morning, requiring fire brigades to extinguish the vehicle.
The road was closed for a short period after firefighters found a LPG bottle in the vehicle.
Police had stopped the vehicle the day previously and found it to be unregistered.
A vehicle parked on Manilla Rd at Tamworth had it’s rims and tyres stolen overnight on Sunday.
Tamworth police said the tyres and rims, valued at $2,000, were taken between 5pm on January 20 and 3pm on January 21.
Meanwhile a white station wagon has been left abandoned on Brisbane St.
The vehicle has no plates and was first spotted a week ago.
Anyone with information about any of the incidents can contact Tamworth Police Station.
