The 15 finalists competed for four spots on Sunday night at TRECC and Nathan Lamont, Christie Lamb and Kaylee Bell were the judges’ choices with Sarah Head voted in by the audience through SMS voting.
Nathan, from Wagga Wagga said this was a dream come true.
“I’m still punching myself,” he said.
“I’m the only boy, too, so it’s good to represent boys. It’s a real privilege and honour to be in the grand final.”
He said if he won Star Maker he would take a year off from his part-time job to focus on music.
“I would be writing and recording – doing lots of songwriting to produce the album,” he said.
“If I won, I would take the bull by the horns. It’d be fantastic.”
Christie said being a grand finalist in Star Maker was an “absolute amazing opportunity”.
“To us, it’s invaluable,” she said.
“It’s such a great platform to launch your career and take the next step to the next level.”
Originally from New Zealand, Kaylee Bell said the line-up for the final was very strong, but she had enjoyed meeting everyone, although she was very nervous.
“I’m so honoured to be in the top four,” she said.
“I would also quit my day job if I won because I moved to Australia to focus on country music. I would also use the trip to Nashville to write as many songs as I could. Star Maker is a great opportunity and a year of opportunities and I’d grab them and run with them.”
Audience favourite Sarah Head said she’d been singing in pubs and clubs and released an EP a couple of years ago, so she would like to record again.
“Star Maker was all about getting up there on the night and giving it your all and hopefully it pays off,” sarah said.
Christie, Nathan, Sarah and Kaylee will perform again for the judges on Friday night at 6.30pm at Bicentennial Park before the Toyota Concert for Rural Australia, with the winner announced on the night.
