The Boggabri Rugby League Kangaroos are back in action and ready to hop to it in the Group 4 second division season.
The club will pack down for its first training session of the season at Jubilee Oval, Boggabri tomorrow.
The session will start at 6.30pm and all intending players are urged to make the early effort despite the hot conditions.
The second division competition is shaping up to be very strong in 2013, with 10 teams set to do battle.
They are Werris Creek, Quirindi, Dungowan, Kootingal, Bendemeer, Walcha, Manilla, Barraba, Boggabri and Bingara.
The Kangaroos last played in the Group 4 second division competition in 2007 and last played in Group 4 first division in 1997.
Recently-elected president Col Gillham could not be happier with the way things were shaping up.
“We’ve had a good turnout at all our fundraisers and numbers so far on the registration book look good,” Gillham said.
“It’s only early days but looking at the quality of players we already have, I’m sure we’ll be very competitive in a very strong second division competition,” he said.
Former Gunnedah junior coach and player Dave Harris has been elected coach for the season while Anthony Boyce will manage the side.
Craig Urquhart (vice-president), Paul Clancy (secretary) and Geoff Hobden make up the executive with Gillham.
Club officials are also in the process of organising several home and away trials.
