Soundly beaten by Southern by 77 runs on Monday, CNZ rebounded yesterday by scoring 140 and then dismissing Newcastle for 90.
“We bowled and fielded really well,” assistant coach Tony Meppem said.
However the batting effort looked shaky early on, with CNZ struggling at 5-50, but Cade Cust came in at number seven and the Scone teenager hit the ball sweetly to topscore with 47.
Jacob McCormick (12), skipper Ryan Meppem (16), Beau Harris (12) and Inverell’s Tom Scoble (11) all chipped in with the bat as well.
Scoble completed a good all -round day when he captured 2-22 off his 10 overs.
Tamworth’s Lachlan Davidson (1-11), Narrabri’s Nathan Trindall (2-8), Inverell’s Jaiden Tasker (2-8) and skipper Meppem (3-15) also had bowling success.
“Beau Harris kept very well too,” Tony Meppem said.
“And Trent Park took two very good catches at short leg off Ryan, both off the middle of the bat.
“We did take some good catches.
“That was a lot better than yesterday’s disaster.
“We now play North Coast and need to win big and have results go our way to make the final.
“But the main thing is the boys got a victory and know how to win now.”
Central North plays North Coast at Johnny Martin Oval, Taree today.
