One week to go and counting

TODAY we’re a week out from the biggest party in Tamworth and the countdown has begun.

Every day there are country music events on offer throughout the city and beyond, as we inch closer to the official opening of the 2013 Toyota Country Music Festival, Tamworth on January 18.

It’s also the time when Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) finalises the finer details of their infrastructure and organisation.

TRC festival co-ordinator Kate Baker said everyone was excited.

“It’s all coming together well and the next week will be spent doing the final promotions with plenty of social media,” she said. “We’ll be doing the invitations to events during the festival, finalising the program for the new FanZone on Fitzroy St.

"And for the online component, we’ll be making sure it’s all new and exciting and that the content is there, as well as responding to phone messages and emails. It’s a real buzz.”

Mrs Baker said she could certainly feel a buzz around Tamworth as the festival drew nigh.

This year was attracting plenty of people in business and the music Industry, too.

“Last year went a long way in repairing those relationships because I don’t know that we’d given them a reason to come for a while. These are relationships that are new, evolving or repaired,” she said.

FanZone will be a place where country music lovers can meet with their favourite stars and see them perform a few songs and buy their merchandise.

“It’s going to be interactive and fun and will be fully air-conditioned,” Mrs Baker said.

The countdown kicks off today and the festival proper takes the party into high gear on Friday, January 18.
