Mitchell Steiger was the man of the moment taking home the winner’s cheque in the Pip Kelly Memorial Saddle Bronc riding Dreamtime for 79 points.
Steven Mason from Bulahdelah scored 79 points to win the ABR Pest Control Bull Ride on Bartender. Revee McCormack rode Dallas for 77 points to win the night’s Galton and Co Open Bareback.
Emily Learmonth from Kootingal won the Barrel Race in 15.34 seconds. The Breakaway Roping was extremely fast, with Lee Hiller coming in first place in 2.89 seconds.
Tamworth’s Blake Hallam was quick off the mark in the Rope and Tie winning the event in 9.00 seconds. Brad McGilchrist was only .73 second off the ABCRA Steer Wrestling record to win the Rob Kelly Seed Grading Steer Wrestling in 3.74 seconds.
Blake Hallam, leads the way in this year’s ABCRA National standings for the Team Roping and also took home first place at Upper Horton with his roping partner Brady Smith, they recorded a time of 6.86 seconds to pick up the winner’s cheque.
Over in the Campdraft arena there were over one thousand runs. Ben Thompson and Roy won the Open Campdraft with a great score of 182 points. Nathan Cooper made the trip from all the way from Charters Towers to win the Maiden event on Flame.
Last year’s ABCRA Novice Champions Keith Hourigan and Mellow Spin stepped up to win the Open for Open with 92 points.
This will be a great combination to watch at this year’s National Finals as they are qualified in two events and always perform well under pressure. Russ Manual an Trewilga were the winners from 139 other Encouragement competitors. Russ took out the win with 168 points. Meagan Hopkins and KS Echo won the Ladies’ with a great run and 91 points.
The Juvenile 13 and Under 17 Years was won by Jayden Dorney and the great little horse Nicholette.
Brendan Kelly and Miss Way came out on top in the Junior Campdraft 8 and Under 13 Years.
