The couple has lived out of their fifth-wheeler rig for two years and decided in July last year they’d come to the biggest country festival in the Southern Hemisphere.
Mr Riddell said they’d heard about the event from talking with friends who’d been here before.
It’s going to be a family affair, with Ross’s brother from Perth joining them at Paradise Tourist Park.
He’s having his car trucked to Adelaide, flying there and driving the 1540km from Adelaide to Tamworth.
Mr and Mrs Riddell said they were definitely country music fans and had a big festival planned for their first visit.
“I would love to see girls with fiddles and we also plan to see Troy Cassar-Daley, John Williamson and Kasey Chambers,” Mrs Riddell said.
“All the Coca-Cola concerts look interesting, too.”
Mr Riddell said they were pretty open-minded when it came to country music, so they just wanted to see all the festival could offer.
“We probably can’t comprehend how many people there are going to be,” he said.
“Coming to the Tamworth Country Music Festival is part of the bucket list. The rest of the list includes seeing a lot more of Australia.”
The couple has so far spent seven months in Tassie, travelled through Melbourne and along the Great Ocean Road, up the coast through Wollongong and are now headed north.
