A MAN has been remanded in custody after facing murder charges in Armidale Court today following the assault of a man on Christmas Eve.

Police charged the man with murder following the death of 47-year-old Douglas Bindley, who was allegedly assaulted inside his Brown St unit in Armidale.

Around 3.30pm on Monday 24 December, Mr Bindley was allegedly repeatedly struck with a wooden chair leg and a baseball bat.

The victim was taken to Armidale Hospital where he died on Wednesday night.

He was granted bail after appearing at Armidale Local Court but re-arrested at his home on Canambe Street in Armidale on Wednesday following the man's death.
