A MAN has been remanded in custody after facing murder charges in Armidale Court today following the assault of a man on Christmas Eve.

Police charged the man with murder following the death of 47-year-old Douglas Bindley, who was allegedly assaulted inside his Brown St unit in Armidale.
Around 3.30pm on Monday 24 December, Mr Bindley was allegedly repeatedly struck with a wooden chair leg and a baseball bat.
The victim was taken to Armidale Hospital where he died on Wednesday night.
Police arrested a 40-year-old man at the scene a short time after the incident on Monday.
At that time, police charged the man with reckless wounding and using a weapon to commit and indictable offence.
He was granted bail after appearing at Armidale Local Court but re-arrested at his home on Canambe Street in Armidale on Wednesday following the man's death.
His next appearance at Armidale Local Court will be January 23.
