FEDERAL Climate Change Minister Greg Combet late yesterday accused the Nationals of playing politics over Grain Products Australia by blaming the carbon tax and said they needed to recognise the real pressures facing our manufacturing sector and businesses like GPA.

Mr Combet, the minister responsible for both climate change and industry, said the federal government, through Ausindustry, and the local MP Tony Windsor, were in contact “with the business which is important to Tamworth and the regional community.”
He said it was clear electricity prices had been rising for a number of years.
“Based on the company’s usage in July this year they are paying 110 per cent more in network changes than they would have paid in 2008-09 – this has nothing to do with the carbon price,” Mr Combet said.
