The University of New England (UNE) is currently recruiting for event volunteers for the National Rugby League pre-season match between Parramatta Eels and the Newcastle Knights at Bellevue Field, UNE, in Armidale on Saturday, February 2.
There is a range of volunteer roles you can apply for, including ticket sales and scanning, distribution of programs, game and general grounds operations, catering support and merchandise sales.
You can be part of the action and make a difference to the community by volunteering and at the same time gain new skills, meet people, make new friends and try something different.
It will be a terrific day out, beginning with a junior coaching clinic on Saturday morning at 10am and all school-aged children are welcome.
Gates open at noon and at 1.30pm the action begins, with two quality curtainraisers between the Under 16s and Under 18s Eels and Greater Northern Academy squads followed by the main game at 5pm when Ricky Stuart’s Parramatta Eels take on Wayne Bennett’s Newcastle Knights.
The last NRL trial match played in Armidale was in 1993, so this is one not to be missed, whether you are a volunteer or a spectator.
If you are interested in volunteering, drop in to SportUNE and collect an application form or call them and they will forward you a form.
The closing date for applications is January 14 and there will be a meeting for all volunteers on January 17 at 5.30pm at SportUNE.
For more information about Eels Week, which runs from January 29 to February 3 and all of the events on offer, go to www.une.edu.au or phone 67733856.
