West Tamworth and Tamworth fire brigades responded to a call just before 7pm on Wednesday at the corner of Gunnedah Rd near McIntosh St.
An area of grassland near truck building business Obieco was well alight including two cars parked near the area.
The fire took less than an hour to get under control and burnt out about 200 square metres of grassland near the business.
A NSW Fire and Rescue spokesperson said the fire was believed to have been deliberately lit.
