More break-ins in Tamworth area

One break-in and two attempted break-ins were reported in the Oxley Local Area Command overnight on Tuesday.

At 5pm on Tuesday a 50-year-old woman was speaking to a group of youths outside her Tingira St home.

Later on she reported her wallet stolen to Tamworth police, believing it taken from the West Tamworth home while she was speaking to the youths.

The thieves gained entry through an unlocked screen door.

An attempted break-in was reported at 11pm on Tuesday in Piper St, North Tamworth.

The occupants were at home when they noticed a sensor light had been activated and saw a number of people running away from the residence.

The thieves tried to gain entry via a fly screen which was removed from a window.

At 11pm in South Tamworth, occupants of an Erwin St home were woken by a kick to a door at the back of the residence.

They turned on lights and scared away the intruders.

Tamworth police are investigating the incidents and are asking for any witnesses or anyone who might know who is responsible to contact Tamworth police.
