A man has died and a woman seriously injured after a car accident on the Inverell Rd, 10kilometres from Ashford last night.

At about 3.30pm emergency services including Rural Fire, SES, Inverell VRA, police and ambulance attended the scene, and found the 82-year-old male driver of a Toyota 4WD trapped.
He was freed but later died at the scene.
A 22-year-old female passenger from Sweden was trapped in the vehicle for over an hour.
The woman was stabilised by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being airlifted to Tamworth Base Hospital with hip and leg fractures and internal injuries.
She was later flown to Sydney’s North Shore Hospital where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are continuing, and police are calling on any witnesses to come forward.
