Tamworth Little Athletics secretary Adam Jolliffe said it was a good feeling to be able to help the foundation, which provides nurses to help women diagnosed with breast cancer.
“Little Athletics NSW has gone into conjunction with the McGrath Foundation,” Jolliffe said.
“This is actually our first year (of doing this) ... most of the money we normally raise to help funds equipment.
“Hopefully, we can raise some good funds and it can all be passed onto the McGrath Foundation.”
Jolliffe said they’re expecting about 300 children from all over the New England and North West for the competition, including from Gunnedah, Glen Innes, Quirindi and Armidale.
They are encouraging participants to get dolled up in their best pink with prizes for the best outfit worn during the gala day, which features classes ranging from Under 6s to Under 17s.
“There’ll be a prize for the best-dressed athlete on the day,” he said.
The gala day starts at 8.45am at the athletic track across the road from TRECC.
The public is welcome.
