Oxley High School's Josh Hazlewood was named the Sportsperson of the Year and Most Outstanding Secondary Athlete for his feats on the cricket field – which included selection in the Australian U15 side – and throwing events, while young runner Hayley Arden was judged the Most Outstanding Primary School Athlete.
The Coolah 10-year-old won gold at state and national level in cross-country and silver in the 800m.
Duval multi-talent Rhiannon Kentish and Farrer league star Zac Russ shared the Services Award while Gunnedah High swimmer Tom Harris received the Kris Stewart Memorial Trophy.
It was the third successive year Harris had won the trophy, which is awarded to the swimmer who produces the most outstanding performance at the NSW CHS Championships.
At this year's titles, Harris qualified for five individual events and made the finals in all five, winning silver in the 17/19yrs 400m and open 800m as well as bronze in the 17/19yrs 400m individual medley.
He was also just a touch out of the medals in the 200m individual medley, where he was fourth, and the 200m freestyle (fifth).
Earlier, he had won four events at the regional carnival, setting new records in the 17/19yrs 400m freestyle (4.25.35mins) and 17/19yrs 200m freestyle (2.06.71mins).
