The Coonabarabran High student capped a brilliant three days on the fairways, carding a final-day 76, two shots off the pace, to ensure her State
selection.
"She was three over par, which was playing to her handicap," North West manager Gary Armstrong said.
"As a result she was named captain of the State side which was a fantastic effort."
North West team-mate Perry Smith was also not far from the selectors' view – the Macintrye High golfer selected as the second reserve for the NSW boys' team, after a 78 yesterday.
"All the kids played well in the rain," Armstrong said.
"They had a great
tournament."
Tamworth's Tim Hart was also close to a state reserve spot, Armstrong said, with a round of 77, while Trent Irwin (Inverell) shot 84 as did Adam Brown (Moree Secondary College).
In the girls, Rebecca Hardman (Duval) was North West's next best behind Flood with 89 while Tamra Moore (Moree Secondary College) hit 94 and Kaitlyn Hansen (Oxley) continued to improve.
"She shot 103, which is very good for a 26-marker," Armstrong said.
Following yesterday's play, State selectors named two State sides to compete at the national championships in Adelaide in late August/early September.
Girls: Rebecca Flood (Coonabarabran), Skye Chouerri-Solly (Broughton Anglican College), Emma De Groot (John Paul College), Jenny Lee (Macarthur Girls), Gemma Lyon (Woonoona), Helen Oh (Marsden College). Reserves - Melissa Visser (West Wallsend), Alyce Watkinson (East Hills Girls).
Boys: Mitch Krywulycz (Endeavour Sports), Corey Hale (Belmont), Josh Rindfliesh (McDonald College Sydney), Brendan Smith (Swansea), Lincoln Tighe (Edmund Rice College), Lindsay Wilson (Dubbo). Reserves - Danny An (De La Salle Ashfield), Perry Smith (Macintyre).
