Lorin, who has been legally blind since birth, gave a one-hour performance for the whole school and, at the conclusion, opened it up for questions from the floor.
School principal Ena Olennick said the children found Lorin "really relatable" and asked some very intelligent questions, indicating they had listened intently as he took them on both a musical and motivational journey.
"I think Lorin has two main objectives when he performs before an audience of school students," Mrs Olennick said.
"He gives children an understanding of the different styles of music and then links that to the challenges of having a disability.
"He uses Beethoven as a prime example of overcoming adversity, as he composed some of his most famous music when he was totally deaf.
"When he talks about his blindness, he refers to it as a challenge, rather than an insurmountable hurdle, and how he overcomes it."
She said he gave the students a real understanding and created an awareness of interacting with people with a disability. How to speak to someone who is blind and be helpful to them.
"It was a really incredibly positive experience musically and on the personal development side of things," she said.
"I'm sure any school would find it beneficial, for students from kinder to Year 12, as he caters to all different levels, adapting his presentation to suit the age range of his audience."
Lorin began a three-week tour of the New England and north-west last week, visiting Inverell and Uralla prior to his arrival in Tamworth.
This week he's visiting schools in Tamworth, Werris Creek and Gunnedah before he returns to Armidale and Inverell for the third week of the tour.
He visited his old alma mater, Oxley High School, yesterday and will perform at Tamworth West Public School on Friday.
He's also playing dinner music at the Frog and Toad restaurant this Saturday night.
During June he will be featured doing an interview and performance on NBN's Today Extra TV program, with June 23 to be the date the program airs.
After a north coast tour in June, Lorin will head into the studio to begin work on his new CD, which will hopefully include a special guest performance by his wife, Lisa, on piano.
