A 33-YEAR-OLD Narrabri man appeared in Narrabri Local Court on Wednesday on charges relating to a large cannabis crop seizure on a property neighbouring the Pilliga State Forest last month.

Anthony John Thorn, of Eurooga on Jack's Creek Rd, appeared on charges of cultivation of a prohibited plant, possession of a prohibited drug and driving while licence suspended.
Thorn was arrested on March 13 in relation to possession and cultivation of cannabis and as a result of the arrest officers from Narrabri police, Barwon Rural Crime, Rural Lands, State Forestry and Narrabri VRA seized 60 large cannabis plants at six separate locations throughout a 364ha property located in the south-east corner of the Pilliga State Forest.
The plants ranged in height from 1m to more than 3m, were very mature and well kept.
Police estimated the drugs to have a potential street value of $200,000.
Also seized were a vehicle and equipment allegedly used in the cultivation of the cannabis.
Conditional bail was continued for Thorn until he reappears in court on May 26.
