Asif Hadi, a visiting student from Bangladesh, had been studying at the University of NSW at Kingsford in Sydney's eastern suburbs.
Mr Hadi bought a train ticket to Armidale on February 9 and booked into the Abbotsleigh Motor Inn the following day at about 6.20pm.
On February 11 at 1.20pm Mr Hadi hired a red Mongoose mountain bike and checked out of the motel on February 12.
Mr Hadi told the owner he was going for a ride around town, however, the mountain bike has not been returned.
Police have searched the Armidale area and spoken to locals but have been unable to find him.
Mr Hadi left none of his belongings in the motel and his mobile phone has not been used since February 8.
Mr Hadi's relatives in Bangladesh have not heard from him and his flatmates at Kingsford have not seen him since February 10. Police are concerned for Mr Hadi's safety as it is out of character for him not to contact his
family.
An Armidale police spokesman said the station was yet to receive any information in relation to Mr Hadi as a result of the publicity of his disappearance.
The officer said police would continue to monitor Mr Hadi's bank and mobile phone accounts and in the meantime would rely on public information for help.
Anyone who might be able to help police should contact the station on 6771 0699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police are also urging Mr Hadi to contact police and his family.
Meanwhile, two Swiss tourists feared missing since February 21 have been found alive and well in Byron Bay.
The men, aged 21 and 22, were holidaying in Byron and were unaware they had been reported missing until they were contacted by a friend yesterday.
Police feared for their safety as they had not used their bank accounts and had not contacted relatives.
