The students from 21 different schools from the Tamworth region, including Nundle, Barraba and Manilla, fought for placings to qualify for the regional trials at Gunnedah on February 8.
Five records were broken, all by Tamworth South students, with Ellee Wallington accounting for two of those in the senior girls' backstroke and 100m freestyle.
Other record-breakers were junior girls' champion Emma Poetschka in the junior girls' butterfly, another champion in Kimberley Resch in the 11 years 50m freestyle and Tamworth South senior girls relay team.
Individual and school champions were also crowned with the overall school trophy going to Tamworth Public School in the boys and Tamworth South in the girls.
The first four in each event will line up at Gunnedah with the best three at that event then qualifying for the State titles.
The weather was perfect for swimmers, parents and officials with the heatwave of last week and the rain of earlier this week disappearing just in time.
"It's a good day," Tamworth Zone swimming secretary Janelle Swab said.
"It looks a good roll-up."
