Mrs Jackson has worked at the school for 17 years and held the position as acting principal for the second half of this year.
The need to appoint a new principal was the result of the sudden death of former principal Graham Hilder in July.
“I feel very honoured and privileged to be given the opportunity to take up the position,” Mrs Jackson said.
“I am very excited and my family are very pleased.”
Before she moved to Tamworth Mrs Jackson worked for the Commonwealth Teaching Service in the Northern Territory where she held roles such as the deputy principal of a primary school, an early childhood coordinator and the professional assistant to the director of education for the top half of the territory.
During her time at Calrossy Mrs Jackson has also held a number of positions including deputy principal and senior teacher welfare.
“Before this I was teaching and responsible for the library and information technology,” she said.
Mrs Jackson admitted that her time as acting principal had been both challenging and rewarding.
“When you have a sudden unexpected loss of a principal, then stepping in is always a challenge because it is not something you prepare for but at the same time it was very enjoyable because the whole school community have been very supportive and prepared to work as a team.”
Mrs Jackson said the whole school community included all staff and the parent and student bodies.
“I think it is appropriate to thank the school community for their faith, support and prayers,” she said.
