Letters to the Editor

05 Nov 09 | CON artist extraordinaire Kevin Rudd is at it again with his latest coup inducing Peter Costello to join him in the “Futures Fund”.
05 Nov 09 | THE result of the sports audit is in and it’s no surprise Tamworth Football Association needs a major overhaul.
05 Nov 09 | DURING the past few months in the Tamworth press we have been treated to a vital debate over creation/evolution issues.
05 Nov 09 | I HAVE been, quite frankly, surprised at the number of people who have expressed support of my stand on the observance of Halloween. So if we look back at Halloween, last Saturday night.
23 Sep 09 | I wholeheartedly agree with the letter from J Carey in The Leader on Tuesday, September 17. Let’s keep the people’s park.
23 Sep 09 | ADDING my profound displeasure of Tamworth Regional Council’s ridiculous new concept for Bicentennial Park, I totally agree with J Carey of Tamworth (NDL, September 17).
23 Sep 09 | I READ with amusement the article by Simon Chamberlain on the Barraba water softer option (NDL, September 21). My comment is, you can’t soften what you ain’t got.
23 Sep 09 | THIS is a good news week for those budding Greenies! Not necessarily those who vote for the Greens political party, but who are increasingly water- or sustainability-conscious.
23 Sep 09 | PEOPLE in Sydney have now realised the deceit of the State Government, which has centralised planning and ignored local councils’ decisions.
23 Sep 09 | HOW sad to hear of Patrick Swayze’s passing. I thought he was a fine young actor.
22 Sep 09 | UGLY, ugly, ugly is how I see the whole behaviour of people (with notable exceptions by a few) in the Dennis Ferguson paedophile case.  | CommentsComments (1)
22 Sep 09 | IS Senator Nick Xenophon the only person in Parliament that will seek to take on Telstra over the introduction of a $2.20 surcharge on accounts that are paid by cash? We would hope that people and our political representatives would rise as one in support of this senator.
22 Sep 09 | ON behalf of the members of Tamworth Legacy, I would like to convey my sincere appreciation to the many business houses and members of the general public who supported Legacy during Badge Week, which ran from August 31 to September 5.
22 Sep 09 | I WRITE regarding the story published last Saturday, “Hello! You may have HIV”. Hunter New England Health is taking the recent infection control breach at Inverell Hospital very seriously, and an investigation of procedures in the hospital’s theatres is already under way.
10 Sep 09 | REGARDING the letter to the editor of September 3 from Pat Lightfoot of Armidale.
10 Sep 09 | CONGRATULATIONS to everyone involved in the fantastic new grandstand at Bellevue Oval at the University of New England.
10 Sep 09 | EIGHTEEN months ago, the Rudd Government took charge with no government debt.
10 Sep 09 | I would like to express my appreciation to the editor of the sporting section of your paper for the best coverage of any paper of the rugby league.
07 Sep 09 | THE Shooters’ Party ought to stop killing cuddly, furry little animals and petition the Australian defence department to be more useful.
07 Sep 09 | THANK you Sandra Lambkin! In a page seven editorial item headlined “Call to respect sites of sacred significance”, in last Wednesday’s The Leader, RSL Sub-branch secretary Sandra Lambkin was quoted as saying “the sub-branch members decided to reaffirm their opposition to the relocation of the memorials, with a unanimous motion passed that a submission be made to council that the memorials stay where they are”.
