KOOTINGAL Moonbi Amateur Swimming Club has been making waves in and out of the water.
The Kootingal and District Bowling Club has come on board as major sponsor which has enabled the club to give something back to its members, like bags, caps and sunscreen.
This year each registered swimmer will receive a Kooty club cap and Kooty sunscreen, all embossed with the club’s logo.
At presentation night each (child) swimmer also received a sports bag with their name embroidered on them to use at carnivals or to carry their training gear.
The bags were a huge success, with all the kids using them
regularly.
The club has also been donated two Eagle Boys pizza vouchers a week for encouragement/achievement awards.
They have about 70 swimmers on their register currently and have been achieving some impressive results.
Nine swimmers recently competed at the Sawtell Explosion carnival for some outstanding results, with every swimmer achieving at least one PB.
Another highlight was six-year-old Ollie Saunders being named 6-years age champion.
At the recent Scully Park Carnival, the club had 15 swimmers competing.
Emma Poetschka and Kyle Eather won the 12 and over boys and girls’ dash for cash events, ahead of some strong competition, while eight-year-old Ashleigh Price was competing at her first carnival and came away with two medals.
This weekend swimmers will be attending the annual Warialda carnival, with Armidale, Narrabri, Gunnedah and Glen Innes all to follow before Christmas.
The club’s own restricted carnival is being held on Sunday January 10.
This year they have decided to add some 50m open events as well to cater for the faster swimmers, as well as adding some dash for cash events to the program.
The club trains Mondays and Fridays from 5-7pm.
Come along and for the first week you will only pay for your pool entry.
