TAMWORTH has made a few changes to its two War Veterans Cup sides for this Sunday’s games as the district prepares to host Armidale in the SCG Country Cup third round.
Tamworth Blue heads to Inverell in round two of the War Vets Cup while the Colts are at home to Gunnedah at No.1 Oval.
There is only one change to the Blue side.
“We get Brendan Rixon back and they have Tim Kensell, Cal, the pommy kid, and Cal Roberts,” selector and Blue captain Don
Lewington said.
“So they have three changes.
“They’re very good sides.
“We’ve just found out we have Armidale here in a couple of weeks so it’s another opportunity to impress and get into the top side.
“The Golds (Colts) need to win because there’s not many War Vets games and we need to go to Inverell and play some good cricket.”
Rixon and Kensell were unavailable when the two sides met in round one but both are back.
Roberts was part of the Country Cup winning side last season and is returning from Sydney University while Englishman Rowe will make his local rep debut.
The other War Vets Cup game in round two is at Armidale where the home side tackles Narrabri.
