RETRAVISION is the inaugural Print Anything Inverell Twenty20 champion after a nailbiting, second-last-ball win over Davidson, Cameron and Bloch in Wednesday night’s final at Varley Oval.
DCB had led the competition all the way through but just failed to defend its total of 128 on a damp field.
Blake Uebergang led his side’s scoring with 55 and was well supported by John Krausse with 38 but DCB failed to bat out its overs by a few balls when the last wicket fell in the final over.
That may have been costly in the long run.
Rohan Burt was the star bowler for Retravision with 5-18 from three overs, as DCB collapsed towards the end of the innings.
It lost five wickets for six runs at one stage after cruising with Uebergang at the height of his knock.
Shane De Gunst was also good with the ball with 2-11 and then led Retravision to victory.
He blasted four sixes and as many fours in an unbeaten 62-run knock.
At the 15-over mark the chase was behind the required rate at 4-79 and more wickets fell after that.
De Gunst was joined by number 10 Darrel Hughes late in the dig and the pair still needed more than 10 an over.
Even with two overs to go, they needed 24 to win and it wasn’t until De Gunst smashed a four off the second last ball that Retravision hit the target and took the trophy.
Hughes finished with 16 not out.
Kyle Tonkin was one of the key DCB bowlers again with 3-22 while Krausse completed a handy effort with 3-14.
There was also a third- place consolation game between Imperial Hotel and McDonald’s and Imperial won it comfortably, by eight wickets, after Maccas made 116.
The tournament was a success and will return next season.
“It was terrific,” district president Eric Higgins said.
“There was a good turn-out there, probably the biggest we’ve had.
“It was a very even competition and anything can happen in Twenty20.
“We’ll certainly be back next year, bigger and better.”
