A 21-year-old Armidale woman died on Thursday after the car she was driving collided with a stock truck on Waterfall Rd.
The accident occurred about 5.45pm, 14km west of Dorrigo.
The woman was yesterday identified by the popular social networking website Facebook as Presbyterian Ladies College graduate Sarah Heagney.
Police from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended the scene and the road was blocked while police conducted an investigation.
The 71-year-old truck driver assisted police with inquiries at the scene and attended Dorrigo Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Sarah is believed to have been a well-known triathlete in the Armidale community.
Tributes for Sarah , known by her friends as “Spud”, flowed onto her Facebook page yesterday.
“You and your beautiful smile and energy will be forever missed ... all the love to you and your family through this tough time,” a friend wrote on the page.
“I’m gonna miss u so very much sarah, gonna miss that smile,” wrote another friend.
Any witnesses to the collision are urged to contact Coffs Harbour Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Sarah’s death comes just four days after the death of a 76-year-old man when his campervan collided head-on with a semi-trailer on the Oxley Highway on Monday afternoon.
