Worst of it is yet to come: bureau (Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri, scone)

19 Nov, 2009 08:39 PM
IT WAS all summer lovin’ in Grease but in Tamworth we are over these summer nights.

The mercury didn’t drop below 18.4 degrees yesterday morning and was still sitting at 38 degrees at 5pm.

And the worst, the bureau has said, is yet to come. Temperatures are forecast to soar to 42 degrees today and not drop below a minimum of 20 degrees.

Tomorrow looks to be much the same, with the minimum forecast at 22 degrees.

A total fire ban is in force until midnight tonight with a severe fire warning for the North Western region.

Gunnedah and Narrabri both cracked the big “four zero” yesterday, with Scone just nudging the mark at 39.7 degrees at 3pm.
