Worker bees needed for our clean-up day

06 Mar, 2010 03:00 AM
CLEAN Up Australia Day has come around again and tomorrow Tamworth and communities across the country will be joining in the national working bee.

Local businesses and residents will once again be showing their civic pride to help make this great nation look its best.

The local Beer Wine and Spirits team are at it again, staking out Endeavour Park and surrounds for their personal make-over project.

BWS manager Chris Fenton told The Leader the team would make a fun day of it, with about 30 people, staff, family and friends, doing the emu-bob.

They will finish at Marsupial Park for a social barbecue to celebrate their efforts.

“Last year we collected about six massive bags full of litter and worked up a good appetite in the bargain,” Mr Fenton said.

“That was our first year as a business team – staff thought it would fit in

well with our move to enviro-bags and away from plastic.”

Teams will be forming around Tamworth from 9am, with meeting points at Hands of Fame Park, Oxley Scout Hall, the Bridge St car park, and TRECC among others.
