Two arrested, $3 million in cannabis seized in Tenterfield

20 Jan, 2012 06:59 AM
TWO men will front court this morning after $3 million in cannabis plants was seized at a property near Tenterfield yesterday.

Police attached to the New England Local Area Command Target Action Group swooped on a property at Eagle Creek Rd about 12.20pm.

They arrested a 49-year-old man and 48-year-old man at the scene who they say they've had under surveillance since October last year.

At the location where the men were arrested, 1339 cannabis plants were allegedly seized from 4 different crop locations within the property. The plants ranged in size from 1 to 4 feet. Also located on the property was at a camp site where a structure used to dry the harvested cannabis. Seized also was a elaborate watering system used to water the large amount of cannabis plants. Equipment, including cultivators, generators, irrigation pumps and vehicles were seized from the property, all of which will be alleged to been utilised by the two men to cultivate the cannabis.

Police last night executed search warrants at the homes of both men in Liston where it is believed further cannabis plants, dried cannabis and property that was linked to property located at the crop sites was seized.

We talk to the police behind the bust in tomorrow's edition

Thankyou to these police, that's $3 million of cannabis that won't make it onto the streets.

Stop wasting tax money on this rubbish. People should be aware that the police want to maintain the drug war because they get hundreds of millions of dollars and make careers out of it. They would do the same to alcohol, coffee and cigarettes if they could. This is the same thing and the public is paying for nothing.
