DURI Public School will keep its second full-time teacher after not one, but three, new students enrolled at the school on Monday.
Last week the school faced losing the teacher because it only had 25 students ? just one student below the threshold that would allow the teacher to stay on ? and needed to boost its numbers before Friday.
The school's P&C put forward a plea in Saturday's The Leader and other media.
To president Anthea Cooper's delight, three children came forward wanting to join the school.
"We were hoping for some sort of response, but this is something we're very happy to see," Mrs Cooper said.
She said it was a big relief for everybody, particularly the students of the school who were "so happy" to learn they wouldn't lose their teacher.
The new students range from infants to primary school, and Mrs Cooper said she suspected the idea of learning in a smaller school drew them to Duri.
She said the P&C was thankful to the community for its support and looked forward to welcoming the school's newest additions.
