TWO teenagers will appear before court this month charged over the violent group robbery of three school boys in Armidale.
The boys were allegedly part of a group of five boys who confronted the trio after school on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the three boys were walking along Brown St when they were set upon by the five youths who demanded their belongings.
When the boys refused to hand their belongings over, a 12-year-old boy was punched to the face and thrown down an embankment by one of the youths.
A 14-year-old boy was punched to the face by two of the youths several times and suffered cuts to his face while the third boy handed his property which included a dvd, to the youths.
Detectives were called to the scene and took a report from the three victims on Tuesday afternoon.
A 14-year-old boy was arrested at an Armidale Park at 5pm Wednesday.
He was taken to Armidale Police Station and charged with two counts of attempted robbery in company as well as one count of robbery in company.
He was refused bail by police and again refused bail at an appearance in Armidale Children's Court yesterday.
The boy will reappear in court on February 23.
Officers arrested a second teenager yesterday and he is facing the same charges.
He will appear before court at a later date.
New England Local Area Command acting crime manager,Detective Sergeant Matt Crotty said police were expecting to make further arrests.
"This sort of thing isn't common in Armidale and we won't tolerate bullying,"he said.
"It was very quick work by the detectives and it's good that they retrieved the property and got it back to its owner, I'm very happy abut that."
